Is this a composite, moonlit from the side/above and a longer exposure for the stars?
I noticed 1/10 at ISO100 and F11 seems too fast and dim for capturing the milky way, so I wonder how you did it.

hey ;)
im just curious, with this stats from the exif data:
Shutter Speed:1/10 second
Aperture:F/11.0
Focal Length:17 mm
ISO Speed:100
it cant be a night shot, so i assume you have done a composite?

Absolutely lovely contrast. And I must admit, it certainly made me wonder just this: Of which are there more, stars in the universe or grains of sand on this earth alone?

I was gonna say the same thing, you beat me to it.

I'd put my money on sand though. The Milky Way has 200-400 billion stars... I saw an interesting graphic about money (found it: [link]) and since 100 grains of sand are smaller than a 100$ bill, and the fact that deserts are huge, sand grains are definitely in the trillions and possibly quantillions. So sand wins.

Oh wait, I just reread your question, I was thinking about the number of sand grains vs stars in the Milky Way, not the universe. Yeah wikipedia says there's probably over 170 billion galaxies. So stars win.

I figured stars would win, but the concept is still beyond me. I love the link about quantities of money. Certainly an easier, although still baffling, way of visualizing it!
